“Not only did our guests enjoy seeing the antique cars, but our White Marlin Mall merchants held their annual Fall Sidewalk Sale, there was a visit by the Hershey’s Kissmobile and it was the opening of Bath & Body Works.” said Mitchell of the events held on Sept. 30.

The antique auto show attracted the largest number of participants in its 13-year run. Participating vehicles ranged from the 20s to the 70s.

The Participant’s Choice awards were presented to Scoop Collins of Ocean City for a 1927 Ford Depot Hack, Mason and Rosalee Durham of Bloxom, Va. for a 1947 Chevy Fleetline. Clarence and Evelyn Lynch of Selbyville, Del., for a 1954 Oldsmobile Convertible, and Sammy Marshall of Pocomoke for a 1970 Plymouth.

Other Participant’s Choice awards went to Lee Chaney of Georgetown, Del. For the 1936 Chevy Sedan, Jim Swagler of Berlin for a 1955 Chevy Sedan, John Batista of Fenwick Island for a 1954 Corvette, Mary Durham of Pocomoke for a 1957 Chevy Bel Air, Steve Lamphier of Laytonsville, Md. For a 1936 Ford Station Wagon and Ed Denkerberger of Frederica, Del. for a 1936 Pontiac.

All those who received trophies in this year’s competition were new winners.

“It is surprising that among all those who won trophies this year, none were repeats from last year’s competition,” said Mitchell.

Although many people enjoyed viewing antique autos at the annual White Marlin Mall event, many did not know the purpose of why all those proud owners are showing off their finely tuned cars at the same time.

“National meets are held every year throughout the country by the Antique Automobile Club of America,” said Mitchell. “These are held on a divisional basis with Spring, Winter and Fall national meets in the Eastern, Southeastern, Central, and Western divisions. National meets are organized and run by the local regions that encompass members of the Eastern Shore Region that hosted this meet.”
